The Brompton Backpack Medium combines the convenience of a proper everyday backpack with one of the best features of Brompton luggage – letting the bike carry the weight while you're riding.
With 13 litres of capacity, it's a particularly good size for commuting and everyday journeys. There's enough room for your laptop, work essentials, lunch and a few extras, without the bag becoming unnecessarily bulky when you're walking around with it.
On the bike, the Backpack Medium sits horizontally on the front luggage mount. Take it off and turn it through 90 degrees and it becomes a conventional backpack. The shoulder straps use a neat magnetic stowage system, keeping them tucked out of the way while you're riding but ready to use when you reach your destination.
A full-length clamshell opening makes packing much easier than with a traditional top-loading backpack. Inside, separate compartments help organise your belongings, with a padded laptop sleeve and internal zipped pocket for smaller valuables. There's also a large external pocket for anything you want to reach quickly.
The outer is made from recycled Taslan nylon with a PFAS-free water-resistant finish, backed up by a durable recycled ripstop lining and YKK zips.
For commuting, travelling by train or simply spending a day moving between bike and foot, the Backpack Medium makes a lot of sense. Click it onto the Brompton for the ride, then lift it off and carry it like a normal backpack when you get there.
