So we’ve just had a really interesting clothing line land in store, Resolute Bay cycling jeans.

I’m really excited about this, I’ll get that out of the way early on.

I like new things for one and especially new things that are in anyway cycling related. These jeans first caught my eye on Instagram. A few purchases of late have been inspired by my endless scrolling through. (I recently bought a custom made front rack bag in camo with orange detailing for my commute/adventure bike and I’m still buzzing about it now- but enough of that).

They feature a highly reflective panel in the rear of the jeans that, when off the bike, can be zipped away and reflective detailing on the inside of the right hand leg that’s revealed when the leg is rolled up (out of the way of the chain). I think these features are not only neat but often make the difference between other users of the road seeing you or not whilst zipping (or pootling, whichever you prefer) about.

The first thing you notice when you handle the jeans is the stiffness of the denim. This is because it’s Raw 12oz Selvedge Denim, no enzyme/ chemical washes. I’ve experienced this same sensation before when looking at high quality Carhartt jeans and there is good reason for this. Although it’s quite different to your immediately (and by comparison slightly limp feeling) soft and stretchy jeans that more closely resemble thick leggings these days I find the hard-wearing aesthetic more encouraging of good quality and durability.

High reflective cycling jeans and rider apparel.

One thing I would say from using them is that they do size small so you may may want to go up a size from your normal fit.

Longer term, the jeans will really last- especially around the crotch area and they will become immediately more flexible after a few minutes of wearing them and even more after a wash or two.
